Basic Handgun Maintenance

This class is designed to help you become proficient at disassembly, reassembly, cleaning, lubrication, identification of worn or damaged parts, and parts replacement for your handgun. We will discuss diagnosing and fixing recurring malfunctions. After-market parts and modifications are discussed, with an emphasis on what products work and what products do not. We will not be modifying weapons however in this class. This course is essential for any gun owner.

NOTE: No ammunition of any kind will be allowed in class

Safety

  • Eye protection
  • Disposable latex (surgical) gloves

Cleaning Kit

  • Solvent
  • Lubricant
  • Rod
  • Bore brushes
  • Patches
  • Shop cloths
  • Toothbrush-style cleaning brush
  • Can of compressed air (such as "Dust-Off")
  • Cleaning mat or other protective surface cover

Tools needed to break down your handgun

  • Glock tool (if applicable)
  • Pin punch set
  • Small mallet or rubber faced hammer
  • Pliers
  • Small screwdriver set if needed
