This course is designed to meet the immediate training needs of law enforcement personnel who have been recently assigned to drug law enforcement units, divisions, or task forces. The basics of drug investigations are emphasized, beginning with the four essentials e.g., developing and handling informants, undercover investigations, physical surveillance, and writing search warrants. The training plan for this course is devised to enable participants to demonstrate basic knowledge and skills to function sufficiently on an interim basis in the drug law enforcement arena until mentor coaching, advanced training, and field experience elevates the participant’s level of competency.
